Crazy experience jumping from 216m high from a bridge in South Africa

Africa do Sul - Garden Route - Dia 4 - Bungee Jump (14)Wow! What can I say about doing the highest commercial bungy jump in the world? It´s totally amazing, and it´s something you should definitely do in a trip to South Africa!

You jump from 216m from Bloukrans Bridge, in the Garden Route – it lasts just some seconds, but it´s unforgettable!  I did it with Face Adrenalin, during my 6-days Garden Route tour.

Africa do Sul - Garden Route - Dia 4 - Bungee Jump (12)HOW´S THE BUNGY JUMP

The Bloukrans Bridge, from where you jump, is located in South Africa, in the Garden Route. Before you jump, you can see other people doing it, from the distance or even in the TVs available at the restaurant, which is pretty cool!

africa-do-sul-garden-route-dia-4-bungee-jumpWho does the bungy is Face Adrenalin – you can book it in advance, in their site, or when you arrive at Bloukrans Bridge. You jump from 216m, it´s the highest commercial bungee in the world!

Africa do Sul - Garden Route - Dia 4 - Bungee Jump (4)After you receive your harness equipment, you go walking to the bridge, where you walk in a catwalk which is already pretty scary: you can see how high you´re walking just by looking down at the floor!

Once you´re there at the top of the bridge, they organize who´s going to jump by weight, and while you wait for your turn, you can see the face of who´s next to jump on the TV. So cool!

Africa do Sul - Garden Route - Dia 4 - Bungee Jump (1)For me, the expectation of the waiting time was the worst part. When it was finally my turn, I was super excited, and I had lots of fun! They tie you by your feet, and help you to go really close to the border. They count 3, 2, 1, and off you go!!

Such a crazy experience! You fall for just some secs, but it feels much longer! After the first fall, you keep swinging up and down, which is really cool!

africa-do-sul-garden-route-dia-4-bungee-jump-6They pull you up after the swinging is finished, and that´s it! A great experience for those who love adventure, a must do in South Africa!

The bungee has a very good price: 950 rands (Oct/16 – or 900 rands if you book it online) – if you jump a second time, you pay even less.

For those who don´t want to jump, but want to experience the walk in the bridge, you can pay 120 rands for this.

Bloggers tip: you can take your camera with you to the bridge, and ask for them to tie it to your wrist with a string, so that you can make a video of your jump (I did this with my gopro).

After the jump you receive a certificate, proving that you dared to do it! You can also buy your video and photos for 400 rands. Here at Face Adrenalin site you can find more info about the bungy.

BLOGGERS TIP: You can compare the prices of different travel insurances accessing this link, it´s very practical to choose a good one.

I did the Bungee Jump at the 4th day of my Garden Route tour, which I did with Earthstompers.

When you do the tour, you have two optional activities at this day, the Bungy Jump and also the Tree Canopy Tour. When I did it, we had two cars, so exceptionally we had the chance to do both activities! It was great!

Africa do Sul - Garden Route - Dia 4 - Canopy TourIt takes about 2 hours to arrive from Sedgefield (where we spend the previous night) to Bloukrans Bridge.

Africa do Sul - Garden RouteMost part of this day of the tour you spend practicing these adventures. After you finish them, you drive for about two hours until Addo Elephant Park, where you spend the night. We stopped first at the supermarket to buy some stuff for the next day, when we could do an extra early game drive inside the park.

The night was at Avoca River Resort, a beautiful and big farm, even quite fancy. The rooms were amazing, beautifully decorated on an antique wooden style, kinda vintage. It has a comfy big bed, private bathroom, heater, wardrobe, towel and a balcony with a great view.

Africa do Sul - Garden Route - Dia 4 (23)The farm has a swimming pool and a trampoline – it´s lots of fun to jump on it, and after warming up, to go for a swim! The views of the area around are beautiful.

We had a great dinner at the farm, trying a delicious local dish (bobotie) with wine and dessert. All perfect! It´s a great place to stay if you´re visiting Addo Elephant Park.
