Chilled hostel just by beach in Zanzibar
Paje is laid back beach at the East Coast of Zanzibar. It´s a perfect place to relax and to chill out. There are many options of hotels and resorts at the beach, but you can also find some hostels with good price and nice structure.
I stayed at New Teddy’s Place and I really enjoyed the place, it´s a very good hostel!

WHY IT´S A GOOD HOSTEL
New Teddy’s Place is located just a couple of meters from the beach and it has a great atmosphere. It´s a beautiful place, with lots of areas to relax – couches with sea view, hammocks, sunbeds… Perfect to chill out!
The mixture of the white soft sand with the green coconut trees gives the hostel a special tone, it feels you´re at the beach all the time. It has a chilled restaurant/bar, and different games available for the guests, including darts.
The hostel also has a beach volleyball field and a slack line, which are great for spending the time with other backpackers. They organize Kite Surfing activities during the season (Paje is known as a kite surfing paradise).
They also have book swap, towels to borrow and free internet for guests, which also works in the rooms and dorms. The only bad thing is that they don´t have a guest kitchen, and that you aren´t allowed to bring food or drinks from outside the hostel.
ROOM, DORMS AND BREAKFAST
The rooms and dorms at New Teddy’s Place are bungalows or bandas, spread at the big hostel area. They are very cozy, and an interesting feature is that the floor is all just sand, and the roof is made of palm leaves.
The beds are nice and comfortable (the dorms have proper beds, not bunks) and the rooms/dorms have fans, shelves, mosquito nets, individual light and power point (for each bed in the dorms). The dorms are for 7 people each, and have shared bathrooms.
The accommodation prices in dorms start at 22 U$, and the double rooms, at 48 U$ for two people (high season), including breakfast.
There are two options of breakfast, savory or sweet, meaning you can choose between an omelet and chapati or a sweet pancake. Both options are accompanied by fresh fruits, juice, coffee and tea.

LOCATION
The hostel is very well located, just a few meters walking from the beach. If you arrive by dalla dalla (local transportation), it´s about 15 minutes walking from the roundabout where they drop you off.
