I was always a fan of Walking Tours, I did many on my World Trip, and I came back to Curitiba with the idea of doing it here. So now I´m a guide on Curitiba Free Walking, and I want to invite you to do the tour with me when in Curitiba!
OK, BUT WAIT, WHAT IS A FREE WALKING TOUR?
The Free Walking Tours started in Europe and it exists in many places all over the World. It´s a walking tour, guided and free, with info about the history of the city, that usually happens on an informal way, and that gives you a general view from the city.
AND WHY IS IT A GOOD IDEA?
For many reasons! As you know, it´s for free – you just tip it you want, and as much as you want. Youn learn about the history of the city and curiosities that you probably wouldn´t know if you did everything by yourself.
The tour gives you a general view from the city, after doing that it´s easier to decide what to visit, such as museums, parks and attractions. It´s an opportunity of meeting other travellers and making new friends.
You can ask the guide to give some tips, such as where to eat, or to go out at night. And everything happens on an informal way, not like some regular boring tours where the guide speaks on a mechanical way.
HOW IS THE TOUR
The tour takes about 2 or 2:30 hours, with light walking. The meeting point is in front of Guaíra Theater, at downtown. On weekdays it starts at 10:00 AM, and at 11:00 AM on Saturdays.
It´s a walking tour, through the center and the historical area of Curitiba. During the tour the guide explains the history of the city, talks about the sustainability award it received, about curiosities, legends, and gives tips about what to visit in here. It´s a cool and different way of discovering the city!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Are you kidding me? As the name says, it´s for free! Sweet! The tour is maintained with the tips given by the walkers – you can give as much as you want, considering how much you think the experience was worth!

Ah, one tip: when on the tour, use confortable shoes, and don´t forget the sunscreen. The weather in Curitiba is unpredictable, sometimes you think it´s gonna rain and it becomes a really sunny day!
