Game drives in Masai Mara, Amboseli, Lakes Nakuru and Naivasha and Crater Lake
Kenya is an amazing country for doing safaris – there are many options of national parks, with all kind of wild life, including the big five. You can either choose to do a Kenya and Tanzania safari, or just a Kenya one, like I did.
I spent a week doing game drives at the main parks of the country with Kenya Walking Survivors Safaris. The 7 days tour includes a visit to Masai Mara, Amboseli, Nakuru Lake, Naivasha Lake and Green Crater Lake, an amazing view of the main spots of the country.

HOW IS THE TOUR
It´s advertised as an eight days tour, as it starts in Nairobi, and the first there is included, but actually in the first day you don´t leave the city.
The order of the parks visited change, depending on the tour. When I did it, at the first day (considering it a seven days tour) we went to Maasai Mara, arriving there around 4:30PM. This a road trip day, but we still had time enough to visit a Maasai Village, which was a great experience.
On the second day we visited the Maasai Mara Reserve. It was a wonderful full day game drive. We had a blast! Obviously the animals you see change at each game drive, but we saw four of the big five: elephants, buffalos, lions and leopards. We even saw a leopard hunting, and saw 23 lions in total, it was amazing!
The third day was another day on the road, going all the way from Masai Mara to Amboseli, where we spent the night.
On the fourth day we had a full day game drive at the beautiful Amboseli Park, with its many elephants and Kilimanjaro as the background. It has less wildlife than Masai Mara, but it´s very pretty, and we managed to see lions and a cheetah. The view of the park from the top of the hill is very pretty, with its two big lakes, the swamp and the elephants all around.

The fifth day was again on the road, going from Amboseli to Lake Naivasha, a whole day trip. In the morning we crossed Amboseli park again, so we had the chance to see some more animals. We arrived at Naivasha at late afternoon, and stayed at a camping just in front of the lake.
On the sixth day we went to Lake Nakuru for a game drive – about 1:30 hour from Lake Naivasha. This park was famous for its flamingos, but as the lake became much drier, unfortunately the flamingos migrated somewhere else… Nakuru Park doesn´t have lots of wildlife, but it was there that I saw the fifth of the Big Five: the rhino!
And finally, the last day: we did a walking safari to the Green Crater Lake, at Lake Naivasha area. It was really cool to be able to walk amongst the animals! After lunch, we headed back to Nairobi. Such a great experience!

WHO DOES THE TOUR
There are plenty of options of agencies offering this kind of tour in Nairobi. I did it with Kenya Walking Survivors Safaris, I had a great time.
The guide/driver was a nice and very friendly guy (Peter), and the group was very small (only two people), it was almost a private tour.
The tour includes the meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), drinking water, transportation, guide, the park’s fees and the accommodation for the period (you can choose among lodges, which are very fancy, and tented camps, that are very comfy and way cheaper – they offer big tents, with two beds, hot shower and private toilet, it´s very similar to a normal room).
