The perfect place for backpackers in Cape Town
BIG Backpackers is an awesome hostel, with an inviting atmosphere, very cosy and perfect to meeting people. It has a great vibe, it´s definitely a place where you can feel at home, a very good option to stay when in Cape Town. I´d totally recommend it!

WHY IT´S A GOOD HOSTEL
The structure of the BIG Backpackers is great. It has a huge area, with two big houses, a delicious swimming pool, perfect for the warm days, and free parking for guests (many people travel by car in South Africa).
Both houses have a great common area, with a well equiped guest’s kitchen and super comfy living rooms, with flufy couches and pillows, TV, video game, movies, games and blankets for the cold days. There´s even a Moshi Area, full of pillows, perfect to chill out!
A cool thing is their Honesty Bar – you can open the fridge and help yourself with a beer, a glass of wine, water or soda drinks, and just write your name down at the sign board.
The staff is amazing, everybody is cool, and they are always available during the breakfast, talking to you and suggesting things to do during the day or at night. The hostel has a great vibe!
Also, they organize free daily activities, such as going to the food markets, climbing Lion’s Head for sunset or sunrise, or climbing Table Mountain. To join the activity, you just have to sign up on the boards.
At the reception they have a mini shop, where you can buy some souvenirs, plug adaptors (you can also rent them) and snacks. They also organize tours there, such as to Cape Point or to the Winelands, you can book them directly through the hostel if you want.
GOOD LOCATION
The location of the hostel is very good, at Green Point neighbourhood, close to the World Cup Stadium and to the Waterfront, one of the most touristy areas of Cape Town. There are many good restaurants nearby the hostel, and also a supermarket and a liquor store.
To go to downtown, you can either walk (about 20 min), or take a bus or a Uber, it´s very easy to get there.
ROOMS, DORMS AND BREAKFAST
The hostel is big, as the name says, there are options of rooms and dorms in both houses.
The dorms are for 4 or 5 people only, very comfy (4 p. mixed dorm, or 5 p. girls dorm). They have private bathrooms, lockers, individual lamps and power points, towels, shampoo and liquid soap. Also, you can borrow a hair dryer at the reception.
There are many options of rooms: double (queen-size bed), Family (king-size bed or two single, plus a bunk bed) or triple (three single beds). All of them have ensuite bathroom. The price start at 340 rands for dorms and at 1080 rands for rooms, including breakfast.
The breakfast is just amazing! It includes a variety of musli and cereals, yogurts, frsshly made coffee, milk, juices, bread, butter, peanut butter and eggs, for you to prepare them the way you like.
