Where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet
For long a time the Cape of Good Hope was believed to be the meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, and also the Southernmost Tip of Africa, but it´s actually in Cape Agulhas that you can find all of these.
Despite of that, it´s not a very touristy place (unlike Cape of Good Hope – read more about it here), but totally worth visiting. It´s a nice and laid back place that should definitely be part of your trip in South Africa!

WHAT TO DO
The main attraction of Cape Agulhas is visiting the most southern tip of Africa, and seeing the meeting point of the Indian an Atlantic oceans.
If you go there by sunset, a very good idea is to take a drink with you, as there are no bars around (and it´s so good to enjoy the sunset with a beer)!
It gets very windy around, so make sure you bring a warm jumper with you. You can also visit the Light House, which is just nearby.
For swimming, Cape Agulhas / Struisbaai has a good beach, that is also great for seeing the sun rise. Another cool thing to do there!
It´s not a party place, but the hostel where I stayed (Cape Agulhas Backpackers) has a great bar with a good vibe, you can hang out there at night to meet some people.
You can spend just one day in Cape Agulhas, as there´s not much to see or to do, but if you wanna relax you may as well stay there a bit longer, as it´s a perfect place for chilling!
GETTING THERE
If you´re traveling by car, you can get in Cape Agulhas in about 5-6 hours, leaving from Cape Town. You can also go by bus, or alternatively visit it on a Garden Route Tour – that was my option, and I really enjoyed it!

ABOUT THE GARDEN ROUTE
I did a 6-days Garden Route Tour with Earthstompers (you can read more about it here), and we visited Cape Agulhas on the first day, in the afternoon – it took about 2h30 driving from Hermanus.
In the morning of the first day, you can do a Shark Cage Diving (read more about it here) or a whale watching tour as an optional activity. After lunch, you already head to Cape Agulhas, where you can see the sunset, and also where you spend the night.
SLEEPING
I stayed at Cape Agulhas Backpackers, a lovely hostel, just about 3 minutes walking from the beach.

The place is pretty, the decoration is amazing, kinda kitsch, and the vibe is super cool. If it´s warm enough you can get refreshed at their swimming pool, having some drinks at the hammocks. If it´s cool, you can just hang around the fire place, chilling at the couches or drinking at the bar.
The staff is very friendly, and they have a delicious dinner (braai – barbecue style), with homemade bread and lots of vegetables and salads. The breakfast is also yummy.
The hostel has an awesome garden, an organic garden, a guest’s kitchen, free wi-fi and tea/coffee.
The dorms and private rooms (ensuite) are cozy and beautifully decorated. In the private rooms you have a fridge, tea/coffee, towels, hair dryer, heating, fan and even an electric bed sheet!
If you like dogs, you´ll enjoy playing with their dogs, which even go to the beach with you to see the sunrise!
I slept there just one night, during my Garden Route Tour, but I wish I could have stayed longer! Such a nice place to be!
